Bowling in an older center that has more lane wear? This increases the friction of any type of lane, whether wood or synthetic. On older lanes, you’ll probably need weaker equipment, later hooking layouts, and/or a smoother, shinier surface to help the ball get down the lane. The opposite is generally true when bowling in a newer center that has less lane wear.
As always with lane play suggestions, let your ball be your guide. Don’t let preconceptions about the condition of the lane surface affect your decisions during competition.
