Every bowler has been faced with the situation of needing to make an adjustment, being unsure what to do, and then picking the wrong one. In these situations, what’s the best course of action?
A lane play decision is always an educated guess. The higher your experience level and the more skills you have, the more likely you will be to pick the right adjustment, but we all make mistakes. When you realize you’ve made a wrong choice, here’s what to do.
Just breathe. What’s done is done, so beating yourself up about it doesn’t help in the moment. A wrong adjustment is simply an option crossed off your list, so go back to the options you considered before. You’ve learned something, so move forward and commit to the next adjustment, rather than dwelling on the mistake.
