The newest high performance ball for Storm is the Lucid. This ball uses a new coverstock named ERG (Evolution Reactive Genesis), a pearlized resin. It’s without the Nano additive like the NRG used on the Virtual Gravity Nano Pearl, the last pearlized ball in the Premier line. The next difference is the core. Where the Nano Pearl used the Shape Lock core, the Lucid shares the M.A.D core with the Vivid. The densities have been lowered slightly to get the Lucid to rev up even quicker. The biggest difference between this and the last pearl ball at this price point is the change in the box finish. The Nano Pearl comes at 1500 grit polish and the Lucid comes at a rough 4000 Abralon finish.

The added texture creates friction with the lane quicker and gave us our best reaction on the heavy test pattern. All three testers had a little trouble on the fresh with the out of the box finish. We either got too much push from it and not enough recovery down lane or, when we...
