The Hammer Dark Legend Solid is the second Dark Legend release, joining the hybrid-covered original Dark Legend. This ball uses the same base Semtex Solid coverstock material that was used on the Scandal, but without the carbon fiber additive. The other big difference between this ball and the symmetrical-cored Scandal is that the Dark Legend Solid uses Hammer’s strong asymmetrical Gas Mask core, used previously with success numerous times in the Black Widow, Taboo, and Black Widow Legend lines. The Dark Legend Solid will give bowlers another option for heavy oil patterns, as its sanded 2000 Abralon box finish will easily hook through heavier volumes of oil.

The rough surface texture of the Dark Legend Solid allowed all three of our testers to strike easily on our heavy oil test pattern. They each saw the Dark Solid pick up a few feet earlier than the Red Legend Solid on this pattern. We attribute the change in coverstock as the reason this one ...
