The Burgundy Hammer provides a modern version of the urethane era ball reaction shape. While that sounds confusing, it is actually pretty simple. Hammer has taken a modified version of their successful Vibe core and paired it with a new coverstock formulation called React-a-Thane. This coverstock comes out of the box with a 500 Abralon finish, providing very early hook in the front part of the lane. Any bowlers familiar with urethane coverstocks know they were known for their early hook, and arc-shaped motion going down the lane. This new Burgundy provides this same shape and motion on today’s oil patterns and conditions.
This ball was very useable for all our testers on all our oil patterns. Its rough cover picks up the lane quickly, so we needed to throw it away from the pocket
