The DV8 Thug is the newest addition to DV8’s high performance line. It equips bowlers with a new hybrid coverstock and a new asymmetrical core design. The Thug Low RG core provides a lower RG than the Ruckus Medium RG core that was used in the previous releases at this price point. To compare the Thug’s Class 13F Reactive hybrid coverstock to the last hybrid coverstock in DV8’s high performance line, we need to go back to the original Ruckus. The Ruckus used the Class 8F cover, which we found to be a bit squirty in the oil. With the new coverstock and lower RG core design, our testers found the Thug to offer a much improved handling of oil.
We liked the Thug best on our medium test pattern. The Thug was able to rev up stronger in the midlane than the Ruckus, while making a more violent reaction at the end of the pattern.
