The fifth release in Brunswick’s Mastermind series is the Mastermind Einstein. It uses a new modified weight block and a new hybrid coverstock. The new core is similar in shape to the one used in the previous Masterminds, but it has a slightly higher RG and slightly lower differentials. The last time a ball in this line had a hybrid cover was the Mastermind Genius from early 2014. In sticking with the Einstein theme, this ball’s new cover is called Relativity Hybrid Reactive. We felt that it gave us more traction in the oil, which helped to smooth out the overall reaction shape a bit for our testers.
The predictable motion of the Einstein was best for us on our medium test pattern. It wants to pick up strong in the midlane, providing a more rounded shape when it gets to the breakpoint. The 4000 SiaAir box finish gave our low rev tester enough teeth in the middle of the lane to kick out the 10 pin, while being smooth enough for Cranker to stay in the pocket when he got it out to the dry a little early.
