While the Grip It follows the naming pattern of the Rip It in the medium performance line for 900 Global, nothing besides the name is shared between the two bowling balls. The Grip It uses a different core and cover than the Rip It. The lower RG core revs up quickly, while the sanded s64 Hybrid coverstock wants to read the midlane heavy.
We somewhat struggled on our fresh test patterns with the box finish. The core wanted to stand up fairly quickly, not saving enough flare for the back end.
